Salvador is a city with a passionate heart and soul, known as the “African-cultural capital of Brazil”, where great and globally famous names of the artistic field were born. From its 16th century origins as the most important seaport in the South Atlantic region to its colourful and cultural recent history, this Brazilian city is alive with the exotic rhythms that provide a backbeat for a fascinating holiday. Salvador, in province of Bahia, has always had a special coast, since it has the largest number of beaches in the country. So, nature was generous in the 50 kilometer-long coast of Salvador, where natural beauties are as vast as the coast itself. With so many beaches, it is easy to explain why the city is so desired by water sports lovers.

The Portuguese and Dutch colonisation of Salvador has left its mark in the many architectural relics of the period. The Igrea Sao Francisco is said to be one of the most spectacular churches in the world. Salvador is a shopper’s delight with many bargains to be found in the shopping district, and nightlife sizzles all over the city in the numerous bars, nightclubs and restaurants. Joy, creativity, musicality, folklore and rich culture are characteristics of the people from Bahia, which have a special mixture of races and costumes.
